STYFC weekend update

The U12s and U14s were in action this weekend and also got a chance to try bubble football.

19/12/16

The Under 12s moved to the top of the league going into the Christmas break still with a game in hand.

Sunday's goal scorers were Owen McCarthy, Malachi McDonald, Daanish Ansari and Joseph Dingui, as well as an own goal. There was almost a sixth which would have been a contender for goal of the season from Alfie Lathey which was inexplicably disallowed!

Following the game some of the U14 players joined the U12s for a bubble football session. The lads competed in a 5 a side competition, last man standing and human bowling. It was great fun, especially when the lads beached themselves upside down.

Thanks to Zola Zorbs for running the session.

The Under 11s put in a very positive performance from the lads this week displaying hard work, teamwork and great linkup.

Having learnt a lot from the last few weeks everything came together for the boys on Sunday when they put on a commanding performance and gave their parents and coaches an early Christmas present.

In training on Saturday they worked on shape, both on and off of the ball, add this to the passion and commitment and sheer effort, brought about the desired effect. Charlie opened the scoring, Louie scored a hat-trick, one by lobbing the keeper from 20 yards. The other goals were scored by Freddie and Callum.

It was great to see all the individual performances come together to create the team performance that has been threatening to appear in recent weeks. It was really hard to pick a Man of the Match, but Charlie was picked for his amazing dribbling and defensive shift, even though playing out of position. Conceding so late in the game generated an apology to the boys from the managers, who accept that they got the substitutions wrong.

The Under 14s didn't have a game this week.

We now go into the Christmas break, with the next games not until 8th January. We wish all of our players, families and coaches a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
