Looking Ahead: Redditch United

Neil Baker provides an update on the squad ahead of the final league match of the season against Redditch United on Saturday.

20/04/17

After claiming our play off spot we can look forward to the home game against Redditch without any real pressures and can look to enjoy the game, and celebrate what has been an excellent season.

Obviously results could mean that we can finish as high as third - we are not in control of that destiny, but we will be doing everything in our power to finish as well as we can.

Everything now is about preparation for the play offs, and with that in mind we do have one or two who were unable to train on Wednesday night and won’t be risked.

Simon Dunn picked up an ankle injury against Chesham which has swollen up quite badly, and was unable to train last night, therefore he will play no part in the game Saturday - however we hope that he can recover in time for the play offs.

Mark Nisbet played on Monday whilst carrying an injury to his calf from a tackle against Cirencester which he is still struggling with. He was also unable to train.

Also, Guy Hollis had an operation on his jaw today (having previously broken it in four places) which will leave him out for three months. We cannot take any risks with Nis, and he will also not get changed Saturday.

On top of that, Stoney has a slightly tight calf, and Floody is still recovering from the five stitches in his head wound, so although both will be fit for the squad we are not yet sure to what degree they will be involved on Saturday.

On the plus side Warren Harris managed to get through the session with no adverse effect.

Therefore we will pick from the following 16 man squad:

Shaun Rowley, Sean Fraser, Josh Jackman, Nathan Smart, Jesse Wilson, Paul Stonehouse, James Dobson, Lewis Putman, Gurkan Gokmen, Warren Harris, Lee Togwell, Nathan Webb, Chris Flood, Liam Enver-Marum, Callum Bunting and Gavin James.
