Slough Town PALS shortlisted for Get Berkshire Active award

The Slough Town PALS team has been shortlisted for Team Performance of the Year in the Get Berkshire Active Awards 2017.

18/12/17

Slough Town Football Club is delighted that the Slough Town PALS team has been shortlisted for Team Performance of the Year in the Get Berkshire Active Awards 2017.

Slough Town’s PALS team entered The FA Peoples Cup for the first time, and sealed the BOBi League Division Two title in May – a great achievement for the players and management having already been moved up a division after the start of the season. They have made further progress and have adapted quickly to life in BOBi League Division One.

Manager Alan Meredith commented: “I am extremely proud of our success this year, in what was our first full season as a team in a competitive league. Our nomination is recognition that people appreciate what we have achieved and what we are trying to do for disability football at Slough Town”.

The other nominees are Albatross Diving Club Reading and Newbury Women’s RFC first team. The winner will be decided by a public vote, details of which are to follow, and will be presented to the winner at the GBA Awards ceremony on Friday 23rd February 2018 at the Hilton Hotel, Reading.

The Get Berkshire Active Awards recognise the wonderful contribution local people make to inspiring others to take up physical activity, as well as celebrating individual and team excellence in sport.

Earlier this year, the Rebels’ long-serving physiotherapist Kevin McGoldrick won the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of the 32 years’ service he has provided to the Club, and Kevin received his award at the GBA Awards evening.

This year is the sixth for the Get Berkshire Active Awards. The full shortlists for the Awards can be found here.
