Looking Ahead: St Ives Town

Joint manager Neil Baker gives an update on the squad ahead of Saturday's scheduled trip to St Ives.

12/01/18

We hopefully look forward to a trip to St Ives tomorrow (Saturday) subject to a pitch inspection, hoping to extend our five game unbeaten run - but hopefully add a win to the record - on what we know is one of the toughest pitches in the league.

We have trained well this week, and actually played a 70 minutes friendly against Bedfont Sports on Tuesday which allowed a number of players to get minutes.

On Thursday we worked very hard on things that could prove to be important tomorrow, as we know that their will not be much free-flowing football to watch, and to get anything from the game we will have to roll our sleeves up and grind a result out.

St Ives are on a run of good form with two wins and two draws in their last four including a draw away at Kings Lynn, so anyone looking at the league table thinking it is an easy three points is wrong.

Squad-wise, Harrison Gilkes has signed at Andover for a few games to get minutes under his belt after getting through 35 on Tuesday, whilst Gav James and Josh Jackman will be on opposite teams tomorrow for Met Police and Tooting & Mitcham respectively.

Simon Dunn sustained an MCL knee injury and is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks which is a huge blow. Also, despite training this week James Dobson is still feeling the effects of the thigh injury that ruled him out against Chesham - and although he will form part of the squad it will probably be from the bench, in the hope that he is fully fit for Tuesday night. Other than that, we have no other problems.

We therefore travel to St Ives with the following 16 man squad.

Jack Turner, Nathan Smart, George Wells, Guy Hollis, Alan Inns, Mark Nisbet, Sean Fraser, Warren Harris, James Dobson, Matt Lench, Nathan Webb, Lee Togwell, Ben Harris, Chris Flood, Manny Williams and Brad Wadkins
