Slough make changes to squad ahead of transfer deadline

Joint managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood have made a number of tweaks to the squad ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline.

21/03/18

With the transfer deadline tomorrow afternoon, we have been busy making a few tweaks to the squad, and also adding a few players on dual registrations, in our quest for promotion.

Alan Inns, who we knew needed an operation on his ankle, has been advised that this will now be next week, which means he will miss the rest of the season.

With that in mind we have moved to bring in Wealdstone centre-half and former Hungerford Town skipper Matt Day on loan until the end of the season - however Wealdstone do have a 24-hour recall clause in after the initial 28 days should they need to call him back.

Most will remember Matt from the Hungerford team which gained promotion via the play offs, where he was a rock for them at the back and in the Team of the Year a number of times. He has found himself out of the Wealdstone side in the last few weeks, and both Bobby Wilkinson and himself feel it will be beneficial for him to come and get a number of games with us.

We welcome him to the club and he will join the squad for training on Thursday evening.

With Scott Davies signing, we will not be recalling Nathan Webb, and he will be staying with Beaconsfield Town for their run in. We would like to thank Webby for his contributions in a Slough shirt. We did discuss with him the possibility of coming back, but the main reason he wanted to go in the first place was to get more football, and at this stage we could not guarantee this - so both parties felt we should move on for now.

However he is a very talented player and a cracking lad to manage, and I hope that he can help Beaconsfield get promoted along with a few other ex-players.

In terms of the dual-registered players, these will not be made known unless they are needed, but suffice to say we feel we have cover in all positions.

One other injury to update on is Floody, who had an x-ray on his foot on Sunday - however the good news is there are no breaks, and it is in fact just ligament damage. We hope this is not too serious, and with a bit of luck we should see him back in a few weeks.
