Slough Town PALS end season with win at Madejski Stadium

Slough's PALS team have mixed results in May but end on a high, winning at Reading's Madejski Stadium.

05/06/18

The PALS league season ended with improved performances in May but another three defeats before a creditable draw with league champions Banbury.

This was a game in which we were leading through a superb solo effort from Michael Harding until Banbury equalised in the dying seconds.

Sadly striker Shawn Harding tore his ankle ligaments, and we wish him a speedy recovery in time for the new season.

This has been a very difficult campaign at a higher level but signs are encouraging for the future and the introduction of some new players.

On Friday 1st June the PALS team (including 2 Newbury players) represented the BOBi League in a game against BCA College played at the Madejski Stadium in Reading, winning 7-5 in an entertaining game.

We raced into a three-goal lead before being pegged back to 6-4 at half time, with a far more cautious approach to the second half (and tired legs) but this was all about enjoying the occasion.

Raheem Choudhury was captain and the goal of the day came from defender Scott Miles, whose first ever goal was a glorious 25 yard effort.

This was both an honour and a fantastic experience for all of us (pictured above) and our finishing was as good as our defending was poor!

My thanks go to Reading FC for their hospitality along with Alex Efthimiou, Kay Lathey and the parents who assisted with transport on the day.

Our awards night takes place at Arbour Park next Saturday following the Slough Town 'Legends' match and then a few weeks rest before pre-season training.
