Slough Town secure loan signing of Matty Stevens

Slough Town agree a deal to loan striker Matty Stevens from Peterborough United.

31/08/18

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of 20-year-old striker Matty Stevens from EFL League One side Peterborough United.

Most Slough fans will know Matty from his loan spell at Kettering Town last season, where he scored 34 goals in all competitions despite only appearing in the starting line up more regularly from January, and that being his first full season in senior football.

He backed this up by becoming top scorer for Peterborough with 6 goals in their pre-season campaign, and was part of the match day squad for their first EFL League One game of the season, making an appearance off the bench. However a couple of new signings for Peterborough have meant he became available for loan, and we jumped at the opportunity to take him until 7th January, and help with his continued development.

Matty is born and bred in Camberley and is well known to us. He is a strong lad who won’t give anything up, he was a huge fans' favourite at Kettering last season, and we look forward to welcoming him to the club.

Subject to approval from the FA he will join up with the squad tomorrow.

Welcome to the Rebels, Matty!
