Slough Town Football Club was sad to learn of the passing of former player and manager Howard Kennedy on Wednesday at the age of 66, after a battle against prostate cancer.

Howard served local rivals Wycombe Wanderers with distinction from 1974-1983, making 416 competitive appearances. He then joined Slough where he scored five goals in 32 appearances in season 1983/84, helping the club to a third-place finish in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

He then went on to take the position of manager at Slough, and one of the highlights of his reign was the long FA Cup run in season 1985/86 which eventually ended in defeat in a replay against Orient at Wexham Park.

Our thoughts are with his wife Fiona, daughter Katie and twin sons Chris and David at this very sad time.
