Preview: Rebels face Sutton United in FA Cup

Jon Underwood looks ahead to tomorrow's Emirates FA Cup tie at Gander Green Lane.

09/11/18

For the second year running we face an away tie in the First Round of the FA Cup against a side from the league above.

Obviously last year’s tie turned out very well for us but we are under no illusions that Sutton will present a major challenge for us tomorrow. Having finished 3rd in the National League last season they are enjoying another good campaign and again sit in the playoff places.

We have done our homework and are well aware of their strengths and have no doubt Paul Doswell will have done the same and there won’t be too many unknowns come 3pm tomorrow.

We have had a good week in training and the lads are well prepared and confident going in to the game. We expected to have a clean bill of health but in training last night Chris Flood suffered a nasty cut to the head which resulted in a trip to the hospital, and we will have to assess him tomorrow.

For us as managers it will a great occasion to mark our 300th game in charge of the club and we’ll be doing all we can to make it a memorable one.

It certainly has the makings of a cracking game and we know the Rebels fans will travel in numbers and generate a really special cup tie atmosphere.

Squad: Jack Turner, Sean Fraser, Josh Jackman, George Wells, Mark Nisbet, Guy Hollis, Nathan Smart, Sam Togwell, Lee Togwell, Scott Davies, Simon Dunn, Warren Harris, Louie Soares, James Dobson, Chris Flood, Matty Stevens, Ben Harris, Manny Williams.
