Steve Bateman
We have completed our first two training sessions at the Polish club this week and the attendance has been very good even though we still have a number of players away on holiday at the moment.

The players have worked hard this week and we only have two more sessions during next week before we commence the pre season friendlies, so we have been focussing on quality rather than quantity in terms of the work we are doing.

On the players front, I had some very disappointing news on Monday evening, with new signing Garry Sippetts suffering a work accident with some sheet glass which severed tendons and an artery around the ankle and he was operated on and is now at home recovering. Garry is distraught as he was very much looking forward to putting on a Slough Town jersey. We will be monitoring his recovery closely and hope to see him in Slough colours as soon as possible.

I am still looking at another two additions to the squad and pre season games will allow us to look at one or two options with that in mind. I am expecting to lose one or two of last seasons squad who despite being invited to and expected at pre-season, I have not seen or heard from so that tells me they were never really up for the challenge and maybe goes someway towards explaining why there was a distinct lack of fight within the squad I inherited last season.

The FA draws this week were interesting to say the least. The FA Cup draw, for me personally, I have a lot of connections with Tring Athletic, with their manager and some of his players who have played for me previously and the game will be a tough one if they defeat Barking. The prospect of then travelling to my old club Hemel in the next round with two thirds of last years Hemel squad in our ranks now, will certainly be an intriguing prospect. In the FA Trophy we host Mangotsfield, who under new Manager Phil Bater, will be a force this season within the South & West Division so another tough game is in prospect.

I will continue to update you during pre-season on player movement and I look forward to seeing you all at Penn & Tylers Green FC next Saturday for our first pre-season friendly.
