Chairman's update
|
| A season of promise beckons for stable Rebels. |
If we had started the season how we finished it, we would not, in my opinion be in the position we now find ourselves. The final games of the season showed everybody what we are capable of when we are organised, committed and playing with pride. With more time I know we would have been winning games and rising up the table but unfortunately time ran out.
I am fully committed to Slough Town FC and whatever league we are in next season I know we will be well placed to make a strong push for promotion. Derek is fully committed to Slough and together with the committee Slough Town FC will be rebuilt.
Two months ago when I became Chairman, I identified 6 areas which I felt were key to returning the club back to the highest level of non league football. I believe progress has been made on all of these fronts. These included stability, finance, football, new ground, football development, and support. I would also like to think that the club has become more open and relationships with the Supporters Trust stronger.
Whilst obviously very disappointed, I remain very confident about the future, for me this is just the start and my priorities now are to ensure that whatever league we are in next season we are in a position to gain promotion out of it. Derek is already planning pre season training and is arranging fixtures. I and the committee are focussed on ensuring that the club is well organised and ensuring that everything that is required is in place at the start of the campaign.
As Chairman I never want to start a season without the belief that we can win promotion - a bold statement I know but one I believe in!
Before signing off I must thank the volunteers who show up week in week out to help the club. The support as always has been fantastic and even when results have not been going our way you have always tried to lift the team, something I know they are very appreciative of.
Have a good summer and I look forward to seeing everyone next season in what I am confident will be the start of Slough Towns journey back to the top of non league football.
