Assistant manager announced
Written by Steve Bateman
Fred Cummings becomes Slough's new First Team coach.
On the eve of the start of our pre-season training I am delighted to announce the appointment of Fred Cummings as First Team coach this season, replacing Dave Anderson who departed for Harrow Borough earlier this week.
Fred is well known to me and joins us with a wealth of experience and know how and is a well respected coach who understands this level and what is required to move forward from it.
There has been a huge amount of interest in the position and I had to disappoint one or two as part of the process, but having met with Fred shortly after Dave's departure I am convinced he will help me in my quest to continue to move the club forward and will be a perfect fit with the players we have. I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Fred to the club and will make him feel at home very quickly.
On the players front, Adam Martin has had a successful operation on his knee to repair cartilage damage and we had a good positive conversation regarding him being part of my plans for this season once he has regained full fitness which he will do during pre-season. Adam will commence pre-season a couple of weeks behind everyone else, but will have ample time to catch up and we will look to finalising his position then.
I have also agreed the addition of an exciting wide player, who is away at the moment. He can play down either flank and will join our pre-season preparations shortly.
As promised I will keep you updated with developments as much as I can over the pre-season period.
