Slough move to sign goalkeepers
Written by Matt Webb
Slough have signed goalkeepers Carl Dennison and James Warrington.
Steve Bateman has moved quickly to secure the signings of goalkeepers Carl Dennison and James Warrington, after Charlie Fanner left the club to join Marlow and Steve Smith suffered a long-term injury in Tuesday's defeat against Burnham.
Charlie, signed from Holmer Green in December 2010, quickly established himself as competition for the number one jersey towards the back end of last season, and made 8 appearances.
After a promising pre-season this summer, which included a fine penalty save against Chesham, Charlie has been unable to dislodge Steve Smith as first-choice goalkeeper, and leaves the Rebels in search of first-team football.
Unfortunately, Smith suffered an injury to his knee on Tuesday evening which will put him out of action for the forseeable future - leaving Slough without a fit recognised goalkeeper - and no time scale can yet be put on his return.
Carl Dennison is well known to the club having played for the Rebels in various spells before, and he has also been involved in the coaching of the youth team.
James Warrington played for Walton Casuals with Alex Brown last season. He has previously had trials at Fulham and Crystal Palace.
Everyone at Slough Town Football Club would like to wish Charlie Fanner every success in his future career.
