This year it looks like the league is stronger than last season and we are joined with some other big names of non league football – so it should be an exciting one!

With the season fast approaching, I just thought I would provide a brief update.
Jon and Neil have been busy over the summer putting together a new squad for the start of the 2013/14 season and I am very much looking forward to watching competitive games again! This year it looks like the league is stronger than last season and we are joined with some other big names of non league football – so it should be an exciting one!
As most people are aware we have decided to not continue with the reserves for this season. The Under 18’s however will this season play in the East Division One of the Allied Counties Youth League. Joining us in this league are AFC Hayes, Burnham, Enfield, Flackwell Heath, Holyport, North Greenford, Oxhey Jets and Windsor - some good local derbies to look forward to. These fixtures take place midweek and home games are played at Holloways Park.
The Slough Town Academy will be competing in the South West Conference Division and teams include Bashley, Basingstoke Town, Eastleigh, Gosport, JMA Reading, Oxford City, Oxford United, Salisbury City, Southampton (Bath), Southampton (Sparshott) and Weston super Mare. These games are played on Wednesday afternoons and home games are played at Farnham Park Playing Fields, Farnham Royal.
Season ticket sales are on par with last year and we are hoping that, come the start of the season, we will at least have the same number as last year. New home shirts should (hopefully) be available to buy (£35) from the club shop for the first home game of the season. With new sponsors on board there will also be a new away shirt (purple with amber trim) and these will also be available to buy when they arrive later in the month. Sue in the club shop has been busy placing orders to replenish stock for the new season and we are expecting some STFC umbrellas which may not sell now but should prove popular in October!
New ground update – the continuing saga. At the fans forum I reported that a meeting was taking place between Slough Council and representatives of the Department of Education including Lord Nash who is parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools. That took place last week and allowed the Council to talk about education within Slough and this discussion would of course have included the Arbour Vale site. I have been informed that Lord Nash will be returning to Slough later in the month and I am hoping to have an opportunity to meet with him to discuss our scheme.
There is lots going on at the moment and I will try and keep everyone updated as best as I can, however in today’s world of Twitter and Facebook news seems to be ‘out there’ before I can actually provide an update! However, we are currently looking at the possibility of updating our website to enable representatives of the club to get brief messages out instantly which everyone can then view.
As usual any questions please ask, enjoy the season and UP THE REBELS!
