November did not get off to the best start, with a visit to Leighton Town FC, in what we knew would be a tough game against a side close to the bottom.

We were still missing top strikers Eddie Smith and Johnnie Dyer, which on the day probably cost us, as we fell to a late goal in a one nil defeat, in a game that we had a number of chances but just could not convert.

The following Tuesday however allowed us to forget Saturday and the league, and concentrate on the Berks and Bucks Cup, where we entertained a full strength League 2 side in Wycombe Wanderers. When we saw their team sheet we knew we were in for a tough evening, as it included the likes of Gary Doherty (ex Spurs, Norwich and Republic of Ireland) amongst others. A solid first half saw us going in on level terms, but two early goals in the second half killed the game, and they made sure of the match with a superb strike to win 3-0. All in all it had been a great experience for our lads who play four levels lower.

This put us back to league action with a first time visit from Potters Bar. The game did not start well as we found ourselves three down within 30 minutes, however a Johnnie Dyer hat trick inspired us to a 4-3 win which really did kick start our November.

Our next three games were Uxbridge in the League Cup, where we progressed 5-1 in a satisfactory performance, with the highlights of the evening being the debut of young keeper Matty Bonnett who had only just turned 16, and who is still in his final year at school. It was also great to have club captain Adam Foulser back who had been out injured since the second game of the season.

St Ives and North Greenford were up next in the league and two 3-0 back to back wins was very pleasing. Adam’s return had given the team a real lift and to get successive clean sheets was also a big plus.

This left us with two very tough games against champions elect Daventry Town and a very decent Royston Town who I am sure will be pushing us all the way for a play off place. Winning 3-1 against Daventry was a top result and fully deserved with Johnnie Dyer scoring another two taking him to 8 goals in 5 games. This set us up nicely for an excellent away performance against Royston where on a difficult pitch we ground out a 1-0 win, giving us 3 clean sheets in 4 games.

Over the course of the month however we have picked up a few more injuries, with Sean Fraser missing most of the month, and now Dave Woozley picking up a hamstring injury against Royston.

In summary after a poor start it has been an excellent month with a total of 15 points from 18 available and earned us Team of the Month from The Calor Central League. We are now in a play off position and we now need to work hard over the busy Christmas period.
