Squad update from Jon and Neil

Jon and Neil provide a squad update following Saturday's training session.

06/01/14

Following the recent signing of Leigh Rumbold, we have made the difficult decision to release Ollie Burgess.

Despite having a really good pre-season, Ollie has not quite had the impact that we hoped he would, and when everyone has been fit he has often found himself on the bench. With Leigh, Clurgy, George, Ben and the emerging Seb Castello we feel we are very strong in central midfield and that Ollie would continue to find his game time limited.

We recently received an official approach from another side in our league for Scott Harris, but after having a good chat with him over the weekend, we are delighted that he has agreed to stay with us for the remainder of the season.

We are pleased to report that Wooz and Warren came through a tough training session on Saturday (and Eddie managed some light running at last) so the squad is starting to look very strong again. We won't rule out further signings, and if the right player comes along at the right time it is still something we will consider, but with our recent additions we are confident that we are in a good place to get back on track.

One negative from Saturday's session was an injury to Jake Somerville (hand) which looks like it might keep him out for a few weeks. Obviously we have young Matt Bonnett who we rate very highly, but given the importance of this next run of games we feel we need to bring someone in with more experience, and the wheels are very much in motion on this front. We hope to be able to provide more details later today or tomorrow morning.
