Rebels strengthen strike force

Striker Adam Cornell joins the Rebels following a 7-day approach.

07/01/14

As we mentioned a week ago, we put in a 7-day approach for a striker, and today he has agreed to join the club. Due to time scales, he will not be available for tonight’s game.

We would like to welcome Adam Cornell to the club from Binfield (Hellenic Premier League), where he is currently their top scorer with 14 goals.

He is someone that we have known for some time, having been a regular goalscorer at Step 5. He spent last year with Badshot Lea where last year he got 25 plus goals, and prior to that he was with Camberley Town, again scoring lots of goals.

We feel that he has got more than enough to step up a level, and will provide excellent competition up front for Eddie, Johnnie and Hatchett.

Having made the decision to release Ollie and Lakey recently it has enabled us to bring in Ryan, Leigh and Adam, and hopefully that will provide us with more strength in depth, as this season we have been hit very hard in terms of injuries (and often long term ones), and we want to be in a position to have a strong squad for our remaining 19 League and League Cup games.

We hope to announce later this week a loan deal for a keeper who is a First year professional at a Barclays Premier League club - however due to an Under 21 game that he will need to be involved in this week, we are unable to sign him before Friday morning as it will need to be done on an official loan and not a work experience. As things can change very quickly in the professional game, we have another back up if required.
