After the injury to Jake Somerville, and despite the excellent performance from Matty Bonnett in the League Cup at Burnham, with our current predicament in the league, we felt it was still important to bring a keeper in to cover Jake.
We have agreed with Fulham to sign Max Oberschmidt on a month’s loan. He has represented Germany at youth level, and was signed by Fulham a couple of years back from FC Energie Cottbus in Germany, and has been dubbed the 'new Oliver Kahn' back in his homeland.
Originally he was sent out on loan to Harrow Borough for the year, however this was cut short after a few games as Celtic came in for him, and he went over as third choice keeper for the Scottish champions. He played in all six of their U20 Champions League games, against AC Milan, Ajax and Barcelona.
His loan with Celtic finished on 31 December, and Fulham want him out to gain some senior experience.
He was on the bench for Fulham in their U21 game against Arsenal last night and will sign the loan forms this morning.
We look forward to welcoming Max to the club.
