Looking Ahead: Aylesbury United

A look ahead to this weekend's opponents, Aylesbury United.

14/02/14

Aylesbury United are having a good run in the league, and their away record is excellent, so we know this will be a very difficult game for us in our quest for play offs.

Neil Baker

The Ducks fought back from two goals down in the clash at Leighton Town's Bell Close ground earlier on in the season and will be looking to go one better against their long term rivals tomorrow.

Tomorrow's clash will be the 101st between the two sides with the Rebels holding a slight advantage in the overall record. Currently 11th in the league, the Ducks do have a number of games in hand over many of the teams above them and will look to continue their good form with another strong performance at Holloways Park. Unbeaten in their last six, collecting twelve points from a possible eighteen, but due to the recent adverse weather they have not completed a fixture since the 14th January.

Joint managers Neil Baker and John Underwood provide their thoughts and a squad update prior to the game this weekend.

Baker commented, "We go into tomorrow’s game against Aylesbury in pretty good shape. We welcome back Ben Edwards into the squad after a back injury, and the only player missing through injury we have is Guy Hollis who tweaked his medial knee ligaments a few weeks back in training."

"Aylesbury United are having a good run in the league, and their away record is excellent, so we know this will be a very difficult game for us in our quest for play offs."

Underwood added, "Having trained really well twice this week the lads are dying to play again. We expect to have Guy Hollis back in around two weeks time. He had a scan on his knee on Monday which thankfully revealed no serious damage and he's now making good progress working with Kevin McGoldrick."

Regarding the expectation for the game to go ahead with the recent and continued wet weather, Underwood was cautiously optimistic. "Our pitch does drain better than most but clearly we are getting a serious amount of rain today so as always we'll have to wait until the morning to see what the chances are."

The squad for the Calor Gas League clash will be from:

Jake Somerville, Sean Fraser, Ryan Parsons, Dave Woozley, Adam Foulser, Warren Harris, Jake Parsons, Darren Wheeler, Jamie McClurg, George Short, Leigh Rumbold, Ben Edwards, Eddie Smith, Scott Harris, Adam Cornell, Johnnie Dyer.

Remember to stay tuned to the official website for any news on pitch inspections or postponements.
