Looking Ahead: Dunstable Town

A look ahead to this weekend's opponents, Dunstable Town

21/02/14

We go into Saturday’s tough league encounter with Dunstable Town with no squad changes from the Aylesbury United game.

Slough Town will welcome Dunstable Town for the first time this afternoon as the two sides meet for only the second time in their respective histories.

The first meeting between the two sides earlier on in the season was an eventful encounter which saw the Rebels finish the game with nine men as Darren Wheeler and Ryan Lake were dismissed, although the ban for Lake was later overturned on appeal. Highlights from that game can be found underneath the match report from the link above.

The Blues have made their return to the Calor Gas Southern League a good one following their recording breaking double winning season last year and that momentum has continued for the club into this season. Widely tipped at the start of the season to be a contender for the title, they have lived up to that billing and despite their recent poor form are still in touching distance of top spot.

Dunstable come into the game sitting second in the league but having lost their last three league matches in a weather affected stop start last six weeks, they will be looking to get back to winning ways today and regain top spot from Rugby. The club has been quick to react to the downturn in form and have added Jerome Jibodu from Luton, Newman Carney from Braintree, Kyle Anthony from Egham and Alex Taylor from Biggleswade to their squad. In addition to Anthony, Dunstable will also have former Rebels Danny Murphy and Marc Leach in their squad.

One of the Rebels managers, Neil Baker, provided his thoughts on the game.

"We go into Saturday’s tough league encounter with Dunstable Town with no squad changes from the Aylesbury United game. We hope Wooze returns from illness and Ed Smith has recovered from a tight hamstring."

"The only injury we have at present is Guy Hollis who we are hoping will be fit for selection next week against Potters Bar."

Dunstable have made 3 signings this week with the possibility of a striker to come in also to replace Lee Roache who is suspended, this includes Kyle Anthony who they have signed from Egham, and we assume he will line up in the back 4 with another ex Slough player Danny Murphy."

The Slough squad will be from:

Jake Somerville, Sean Fraser, Ryan Parsons, Adam Foulser, Dave Woozley, Warren Harris, Darren Wheeler, Jake Parsons, Jamie McClurg, George Short, Leigh Rumbold, Ben Edwards, Johnnie Dyer, Adam Cornell, Scott Harris, Eddie Smith.
