Looking Ahead: Potters Bar Town

A look ahead to this weekends trip to Potters Bar Town.

As with Dunstable last weekend, Slough go into a game to face an opponent for only the second time in their history. The first match between the two sides took place in November 2013 and saw the Scholars race into a three goal lead in the first half only for the Rebels to stage a superb fightback to claim all three points in a four three victory.

Supporters of both sides will both be hoping for similar levels of entertainment which was seen in the opening fixture between the two sides. The report, including video highlights from that game, can be found here

In recent weeks, the Scholars have been very narrowly defeated by both Daventry and Rugby, both with promotion aspirations this season, by the single goal in their last two home games and will be looking to go one better against the Rebels. Whilst their recent results have not been in their favour, the Scholars have demonstrated what a threat they can be going forwards which was particularly evident when they were unlucky to come away with nothing from the game at Holloways Park.

Speaking with joint manager Neil Baker today, he provided some news regarding the squad ahead of the Calor Gas fixture.

"We have no new injury concerns going into tomorrow’s away game against Potters Bar, and with Guy Hollis training with the squad for the first time since he tweaked his medial knee ligaments, we are almost at full strength.

Saturday’s game may come a little too soon for Guy as he is still yet to tackle and test the knee, however we are hopeful that he will be fully fit and back in the squad by either Tuesday or by St Ives, though we may look to get him 20-25 minutes midweek to make sure that he is OK, but will review that later in the week.

George Short got a much needed 90 minutes under his belt on Tuesday night for Horndean in the Wessex Premier (beating Verwood 2-0), and Mattie Bonnett kept a clean sheet for Badshot Lea Saturday in their 1-0 win against Epsom and Ewell who are one of the favourites to win the Combined Counties Premier."

Squad for Potters Bar from:

Jake Somerville, Sean Fraser, Ryan Parsons, Dave Woozley, Adam Foulser, Guy Hollis, Warren Harris, Darren Wheeler, Jake Parsons, Ben Edwards, Jamie McClurg, Leigh Rumbold, George Short, Johnnie Dyer, Adam Cornell, Scott Harris and Eddie Smith.

Mattie and Seb (Castello) will both be involved for the youth team on Sunday in their Berks and Bucks Cup semi-final game.
