We are delighted to announce the signing of left winger Steve Duff.
Steve was one of our targets in the summer and had agreed to come on board but then his job took him to Egypt where he has been working ever since, apart from a 4 week spell before Christmas when he was back in the UK and played half a dozen games for Chertsey.
We had to put in an official approach to Chertsey but they kindly waived the 7 day rule which meant we have been able to sign him this week and include him in the squad for the trip to Daventry at the weekend.
Steve is a quick direct and powerful left winger, who can also operate up front if required. He is 24 years old and has spent most of his early years a level below where both of our managers saw him on a number of occasions and always believed he could be a quality player at this level. He did play for Chertsey last season where again he stood out and we're delighted he's agreed to come on board.
We obviously believe he can make an impact this season but is also coming on board with next season in mind as we feel with a full pre-season under his belt he can be a big player for us. Clearly he has not played a lot of football this season and in the coming weeks is likely to only feature from the bench but he is a fit lad and trained well with us last night and it won't take long for him to get up to match fitness.
