With just days to go until the start of the Southern League, Premier Division campaign, joint manager Neil Baker provided the Official Website with an update on the club's attacking options, including news of an addition:
"Scott Harris had good news yesterday from his MRI scan, in that he has no ACL damage, and that he in fact damaged his medial knee ligaments, but that they are pretty much recovered now, and that he can step things up.
"He trained again last night, and trained well, and will be part of the squad for Saturday; however once we get the first two games out of the way, we will be looking to loan him out for 4 weeks to get a number of games, to get his match sharpness.
"Adam Cornell did a bit of running last night, and striking of the ball, and we are thinking he may be ready to train fully Thursday; however we fully expect us to need to get him out for some games also, as his pre-season has been very broken.
"With that in mind we have also signed on Southern League forms 28 year old Darryl Thomas from Matlock Town in the Northern Premier, who trained with us last night.
"Darryl has moved to the area this week from Nottingham, and was recommended to us via James Jepson, the ex-Kettering midfielder. He comes to us having previously played for Ilkeston Town where he got promoted via the play offs to the Northern Premier, scoring two goals in the semi-final and a goal in the final. He is a quick centre forward and will give us another attacking option.
"With Eddie back after the second game, this should give us plenty of attacking options."
