Looking Ahead: Poole Town

Rebels Joint Manager Neil Baker looks ahead to the away trip to Poole Town on Tuesday night

08/09/14

Slough make another long midweek trip down to the South coast to play current table topping side Poole Town.

The Dolphins are another side the Rebels have yet to play in a competitive league fixture but the two sides have met twice before in cup competitions, lastly back in 1983 where Poole recorded a 3-0 FA Cup victory and prior in 1951 where the Rebels gained a 4-1 FA Amateur Cup victory in their first ever meeting.

Poole Town have an impressive recent history. Prior to gaining promotion to the Southern League Premier in 2012/13 as Champions of the South & West Division a season which also saw them complete a treble by winning the Dorset Senior Cup beating Wimborne Town 4–1 in the final and the Southern League Champions Cup, beating Burnham away 1-0, they won the Wessex Premier title three times in a row between 2008 and 2011 but were denied promotion on each occasion due to inadequate ground grading.

Ahead of the Tuesday's night fixture, joint manager Neil Baker commented:

"We travel to Poole Town tomorrow in what will be our toughest test of the season, against a side who have started fantastically well winning 7 and drawing 1, whilst only conceding the 2 goals:

We are still having to juggle the squad, with the continued injury problems causing Jon and I major headaches.

We have had to recall Jake Parsons back from Ascot for tomorrow, however Scott was only able to do 55 minutes at the weekend, and will stay with Ascot again for tomorrow.

Guy Hollis is a doubt again, whilst Eddie is also a concern with his hamstring, we will not be able to make a call on either of them until we get to the ground."

Squad from:

Jake Somerville, Tom Moran, Sean Fraser, Guy Hollis, Reece Yorke, Ryan Parsons, Jake Parsons, Jamie McClurg, George Short, George Frith, Alex Witham, James Dobson, Johnnie Dyer, Ed Smith, Daryl Thomas and Adam Cornell
