Short departs the Rebels

Central midfielder George Short leaves Slough Town.

27/10/14

I have to go on record and thank George for everything he has done for us, he is a cracking lad with a tremendous attitude, if he can add certain things to his game he could have a really good future, and we are glad that he was fully involved in our promotion to Step 3.

It is with regret that we announce the departure of George Short from Slough Town.

It was a decision that we discussed with him, and was a mutual decision, as we felt that with the midfield options we had and the imminent return of Rummy (Leigh Rumbold), his minutes would be limited, and with him traveling from Southampton and recently starting a new job it was becoming harder for him to do.

We discussed a loan move initially, however having talked it through, both decided it would be best for him to get a fresh start.

It is all very well when you are playing week in week out, but when you find yourself on the bench, the traveling becomes a lot harder to do.

I have to go on record and thank George for everything he has done for us. He is a cracking lad with a tremendous attitude, and if he can add certain things to his game he could have a really good future. We are glad that he was fully involved in our promotion to Step 3.

He will be missed in the changing rooms, if not just for his “Trigger” moments.

We have said that the future might bring us together again, however, for his development it is best that he moves on now.
