Looking Ahead: Dunstable Town

Jon Underwood looks ahead to tomorrow's visit of Dunstable Town to Holloways Park.

05/12/14

Slough welcome Dunstable, reigning champions of the Southern League, Division One Central, to Holloways Park tomorrow (Saturday).

Last season, the Rebels were unfortunate to lose 3-2 at Creasey Park after controversially having Ryan Lake sent off, with Darren Wheeler also dismissed near the end of the game. Slough managed to exact revenge in the reverse fixture at Holloways Park though, winning 4-0 against ten-man Dunstable thanks to two goals from Ed Smith, and one apiece from Ryan Parsons and Scott Harris.

Jon Underwood gave the following news ahead of the clash:

"We have a few concerns tomorrow's game despite potentially having all 17 players available.

We trained last night but Adrian Sear (ankle) and Leigh Rumbold (calf) were in for treatment having picked up knocks on Tuesday night and Johnnie Dyer was also unable to train as he is unwell. All three are doubts to some extent but we will make a call on Saturday lunchtime as to how they are and what part they can play.

Tom Moran was due to get another game for Ascot in the FA Vase but given the concerns we have he is now on standby to join the squad if needed.

Saturday will be a tough game but one that gives us an immediate opportunity to bounce back from Tuesday's disappointing performance. The lads trained really very well last night and there is a real determination from all of us to put things right tomorrow.

Our visitors have recently had a really poor run of results which has surprised us given the quality they have but last Saturday's impressive 3-1 win at Chesham (one of the form sides in the league) just underlines what a dangerous side they are. Both sides have similar aims, to push on now and get closer to the play-off places, so tomorrow's game is a big one for all concerned and is one we are very much looking forward to.

Squad from: Somerville, Fraser, R Parsons, Moran, Hollis, Yorke, Jeffreys, Edwards, McClurg, J Parsons, Sear, Knight, Rumbold, Dobson, Smith, Harris, Dyer
