Ground grading - help required

Following a recent ground grading inspection a number of issues need to be addressed, and the club requires your help.

26/01/15

As you will all be aware, following our promotion last season, we recently had our ground grading inspection at Holloways Park.

A couple of issues came out of that inspection. Most significantly, the need for more under cover seating which is in hand.

The other issue was around the cosmetic appearance of the ground in terms of vegetation, weeds etc. We have also decided to undertake some other cosmetic works to improve the appearance of the ground.

We have two options in how to address this. Firstly we could pay someone to come and do the work. Alternatively, we can appeal to the fans of both clubs to volunteer a few hours to help us meet the requirements of the level of football we spent so long aspiring to achieve.

The seating issue will be addressed at some cost, so if we can cover the cosmetic issues at no further outlay, it will be of great benefit to the Club.

Working parties in the past have not proved to be overly popular, so the suggestion this time is if you can spare some time, at your convenience, advise Mike Lightfoot when you would be able to come up and we will endeavour to have someone available to open up the ground and be around to work with you. Whilst the deadline is the end of March, we aim to have this work completed within the next few weeks so that we are not left panicking at the last minute.

I can only stress that this is OUR responsibility, not Beaconsfield’s. We need that ground grading, not them. We will get relegated if the work is not done, not them. That said I will ask them if any of their supporters want to help.

We may arrange a day when we try to get lots of people up together, but a few hours here and there will make huge in roads into the work.

The list is not huge, but some of it will be time consuming. Weeding, removing the moss, painting the yellow step edges, painting around the ground, erection of signage. The only job of any skill is that we need someone who is able to cement some bricks in place in the stand.

The lads did their bit last season to get us the promotion. Please spare a few hours to make sure we meet the requirements. I have heard the stories of how the fans worked on Wexham Park to get it ready - now I know this isn’t quite the same, but we NEED your help with this.

Please let Mike Lightfoot know via the forum, email or speak to him directly to let him know what you can do and when you can do it.

Mike’s email address is: mikelightfoot@mwlightfoot1943.plus.com
