Striker Dan Read moves to Slough whilst Johnnie Dyer takes a break.

Joint manager Neil Baker provides the following update on the squad:

"Two bits of news, firstly Johnnie Dyer will play no further part with us this season.

"It has been a frustrating season for 'JD', and we have been having regular chats with him throughout the season, to talk about our expectations, and also where his ambitions and priorities lie.

"It has got to the stage where he has been out the side for a while now, which has naturally led to him being frustrated, and we have sat down this week to discuss his future, as at the present time he is unsure if he wants to have another go at this level with all the travelling it involves, coupled with his work commitments.

"Jon (Underwood), Johnnie and I felt that it made sense for him to take a backward step for the last 8 weeks of the season, and see if he misses the football side of things, and if he does we will sit down again in the summer when he will have regrouped.

"Johnnie has been excellent for us, and without his goals last season we might not be playing Southern Premier football this season, so have a lot to thank him for. However we are not saying 'thanks and goodbye' as he has no intention to go and play for anyone else this season, we are just allowing him the time to think if he wants to be with us next season, and if in fact he misses his football.

"With that in mind we will be signing Dan Read from Egham Town this Thursday. 'Ready' is someone we know very well and have always rated. He is only 23 and was top scorer for us in the Ryman Division One South in our first full season having joined us from Fleet Town.

"In our last season with Godalming he sustained a serious shoulder injury, which probably affected him for the rest of that season, and part of last season with Godalming. However he has had a good season for Egham, and we feel that now is the perfect time to bring him to the club and give him the last 11 games of the season to try and earn himself a deal for next season. He is someone that has played with both Eddie Smith and Scott Harris.

"He works his socks off for the team and will be coming into the squad knowing the vast majority of the lads."

We welcome Dan to the Rebels.
