Looking Ahead: Cirencester Town

Joint manager Neil Baker looks ahead to the Rebels' trip to The Corinium Stadium, home of play-off chasing Cirencester Town.

20/03/15

On Saturday (tomorrow), Slough will be looking to recover after a recent run of defeats, but their task will be a difficult one, as the Rebels travel to Cirencester Town, who are chasing a play-off spot.

Back in December, Ed Smith's goal within the first minute was a rare highlight for Slough, who were overpowered by a dominant performance by visiting Cirencester at Holloways Park. Smith's early strike caught out the visitors, but the Gloucestershire side fought back and never looked back after taking the lead, ultimately winning 2-1 with Slough barely able to get close to the Cirencester goal in the second half, and in fact Slough failed to have another shot at goal or corner kick since Smith’s early goal.

Slough have found goals hard to come by in recent weeks, but will be much more encouraged by the performance last Saturday against Truro City, and the Rebels again have all three of Eddie Smith, Scott Harris and Dan Read available for Saturday's game.

Ahead of the trip, joint manager Neil Baker commented:

"We move onto another play off chasing team in Cirencester who have had a fantastic season having won the (Southern League Division One) South and West league last year.

"Obviously Adam Foulser will miss the rest of the season, however we are able to welcome back to the squad Adam Martin, Tom Moran and Ben Edwards, there will however be a late fitness test for Jamie McClurg (sore knee) and Billy Jeffreys misses out with an ankle injury from the Truro game.

"In what will be another extremely tough game the squad will be from the following:

Luke Williams, Sean Fraser, Tom Moran, Ryan Parsons, Reece Yorke, Gurkan Gokmen, Guy Hollis, Chris Henry, Jake Parsons, Adam Martin, Liam Malone, George Short, Jamie McClurg, Ben Edwards, Eddie Smith, Scott Harris, Dan Read.
