Managers' end of season update

Neil Baker and Jon Underwood provide an end of season update, reflecting on the Club's first season back at Southern Premier level.

05/05/15

We believe 2015/16 will be a really exciting year for Slough Town Football Club and we are delighted to be the men in charge!

Neil Baker and Jon Underwood

Our first season in the Southern Premier has been a tough one but we have learned a huge amount about the division, our players and ourselves as managers.

We have had some fantastic performances such as the wins over four of the top six teams as well as a memorable FA Trophy win at Margate, but also some very poor displays where we have been nowhere near good enough by the standards we set ourselves.

Although we have scored a good number of goals this season, more in fact than Hungerford who reached the play-offs, it's the 'goals against' column which has been the biggest disappointment and this is our key priority to address next season.

In terms of squad changes, this is something we have been discussing at length over the past month or two and we are confident we know exactly what is required to progress next season. This year however we will not be releasing any details of potential signings until the forms are done in July. We pride ourselves on our communication to the supporters but as I'm sure people will understand it is a very competitive market place out there and we need to keep our dealings close to our chest.

We know exactly how we want to play next season in terms of formation and approach and how we shape the squad over the summer will reflect this in terms of ensuring we have the right type of players in certain positions.

We will have the huge boost of welcoming back Adam Foulser and Warren Harris after a year out, plus two key players who missed the second half of the season in Jamie McClurg and Adrian Sear. The return of these players will be crucial to our improvement next year and they will be working hard over the summer to ensure they hit the ground running come pre-season.

We would like to thank everyone for their support over the past season and look forward to seeing you all again in July/August for what we hope will be a really positive second season at this level. With continuing developments off the pitch with the new ground, we believe 2015/16 will be a really exciting year for Slough Town Football Club and we are delighted to be the men in charge!
