Update on Adam Foulser

Neil Baker provides an update on Adam Foulser's hamstring injury and the Slough captaincy.

24/07/15

I thought it would be best to give you a current update on the Adam Foulser injury having had some more news today on his torn hamstring.

Unfortunately the injury has taken a lot longer to heal than anticipated, and due to the extent of the tear sustained against Truro, his hamstring is greatly reduced in size in comparison to the other leg. Therefore, having had another scan on it, he has been told that the earliest he could be back in training is October.

This is obviously very frustrating for him, having been out for the last 16 months, and especially when he was thinking he would be back playing at this stage.

He has therefore decided that he is going to take a backwards step from the captaincy and the team, as he wants to take the pressure off himself and recover in the most natural way possible, to give himself a chance of playing at our level again, and for us at Slough Town.

We will still see him around the club whilst he gets back to fitness but probably initially on a reduced basis. He understands there is an outside chance that he might not get his hamstring back to play at the level he wants to, however we still hope that he can return for us and have some part to play in the new season.

We had an idea this might have been the case a few weeks back, hence the decision to bring Craig Scott into the fold.

We are not going to start talking about what a player he has been for us etc., as until he is told he cannot play again, we will help him in any way we can.

With this in mind we have decided to give the captaincy to Gary MacDonald. As the most senior player in our dressing room, we feel that he will have a hugely positive effect on the lads in the changing room and on the football pitch. He is well liked and respected, and we are delighted he has agreed to take this on.

Also, in other news Leigh Rumbold may be back in the UK come mid to end of September, and we will look to get 'Rummy' on board again, however as usual we will not know for how long it might be.
