Looking Ahead: Ascot United

Neil Baker looks ahead to Slough's penultimate fixture away at Ascot United.

31/07/15

We look forward to tomorrow’s game against Jeff Lamb's Ascot United.

We struck up a decent relationship with them last year, with a number of our players getting valuable minutes, and this is something we will look to continue this year where we can.

In terms of the squad, we have a few niggles that if are not 100% will not play any part in the game with Monday and the start of the season in mind.

Firstly, Ryan Parsons has indicated that he should be ok, however we will make a decision on the day. 'Macca' also had a slight calf strain and will probably not be risked.

Warren Harris had his follow up appointment with the knee specialist yesterday, which was quite good timing considering he had taken a knock on Tuesday, however the specialist was pleased with the progress he has made and the structure of the knee. He has advised him to rest for 7-10 days based on Tuesday as sometimes you can push it too soon, and therefore in the early part of the season I am sure we will see us building Warren up even further.

Gurkan Gokmen is still recovering from his hamstring injury, Dan Read is waiting for a scan on his knee, Craig Scott we are hoping will be available for Monday, and Luke Williams has glandular fever and as yet we have no return date for him.

Finally, Jake Parsons and Scott Harris are unavailable for this game and will both play against Wealdstone.

Adam Martin, Adrian Sear and Ben Edwards should all be available.

We also hope to include a trialist who has won the FA Youth Cup and U21 Premier league with Chelsea, having been released at the end of the 2013/2014 season after six years at the club and having made over 100 appearances for the U18s and U21s.

Therefore the squad will be from: Mark Scott, Sean Fraser, Callum Webb, Ryan Parsons, Gary MacDonald, Guy Hollis, Billy Jeffreys, Wes Harrison, Trialist, Chris Henry, Jamie McClurg, Nathan Webb, Ben Edwards, Adrian Sear, Adam Martin, Eddie Smith and Lewis Putman.
