Rebels prepare for annual Sponsored Walk

Slough supporters prepare for this year's Sponsored Walk, which will take in several important locations in the history of the Club.

12/04/16

This year's sponsored walk, in a break in tradition from previous walks, will take in several locations in the history of the Club, marking the final 'home' game for Slough Town at Beaconsfield.

Full details can be found on the Events page of the Slough Town Supporters Trust website.

The walk on Saturday 16th April will start at Stag Meadow, home of Windsor FC and former home for the Rebels, at 8am (14 mile route) with a second start point at 10am at Wexham Park, another ground once used by the club (8 mile route).

Walkers embarking from Stag Meadow will walk past the site of the former Dolphin Stadium, and the route will also take in the site of the new Arbour Park Community Sports Facility, Belfast Avenue (former home of Slough Centre FC) before heading on to Holloways Park via the White Horse pub at Hedgerley for a drinks break.

As the walkers head off on Saturday morning for the annual End of Season walk they will be following in the footsteps of dozens of people over approximately 15 years who have walked well over 500 miles and raised in excess of £20,000 for a variety of charities including Friends of Wexham Park Hospital, Alexander Devine, Crossroads, SHINE, The Stroke Association, Wexham Park Baby Unit, Shelter and East Berkshire Women’s Aid.

You can sponsor our walkers in person or by donating online using the PayPal button on the STST Events page. Money will be split between STST and Sebastian's Action Trust.

On Tuesday 5th April, a small group of Slough supporters visited Sebastian's Action Trust. The Trust is born out of the wish of a nine year old who suffered from a rare form of cancer, and has a Family Outreach Hub based on the edge of the Slough Trading Estate, where families of seriously ill children can come for advice, support, counselling, play time, craft activities and regular events for families, children and parents. This centre is open for families to drop in whenever they feel the need, and the charity offers a range of events that cover children of all ages and their families across the year.

Kay Lathey, Dan Brench, Ollie Hayward and Mike Pearcy went to visit the Hub and were given the chance to speak to some of the children and parents who attend the Hub, as well as the amazing staff that work there. You can find out more information about the charity and what they do by visiting their website.
