Following conversations last night with Ryan Hope we have taken the decision that he will not be with the club next season.
We sat down individually with Ryan at the end of last season, as we did with all of the other players that we wanted to retain, and we left that meeting with the agreement he would be part of the squad. However it has come to our attention that, via an agent he has been approaching other clubs with a view to seeing what other options might be available away from Slough.
There are a lot of players who want to play for Slough at this moment in time and we are not prepared to accept a player who is looking to engineer a potential move away. We have no problems with players being ambitious, however when a move is trying to be manufactured before the season has even started it does not instil us with any confidence that the player will be with us throughout the season, and as we are trying to build a squad for the full year, this does not work for us. It is for that reason we have made our decision.
We wish Hopey the best for the future and thank him for his time at Slough.
