Programme Notes v Bromsgrove Rovers

Manager Steve Bateman

Good evening everyone and welcome to Holloways Park for tonight's Zamaretto Division One Midlands encounter against our visitors from Bromsgrove Rovers and I trust they enjoy their brief stay with us.

I can remember very clearly, back in the mid nineties, appearing in a few tough encounters against tonight's opponents in the Conference, as we both were in those days and I don't expect tonight's game to be anything other than another difficult game for us.

Saturdays loss was hugely disappointing and in many ways unacceptable and the players are fully aware of my feelings with some frank and honest words spoken afterwards. A response is what I expect this evening as we look to bounce back with 3 points and keep ourselves in touch with those just above us and I'm sure we'll show far more endeavour this evening compared to a very below par showing in difficult conditions at the weekend.

We are starting to get one or two of our longer term absentees back into contention but it seems that each time we do we lose another one or two as we did with injuries to Edgey and Elliott last weekend. Kev McGoldrick continues to work overtime and does a fantastic job in getting players back available to us and hopefully we'll soon have everyone back to select from and Kev can have a more restful period.

I am hoping to have added to our striking options in time for tonight's match as we seek to capitalise on the chances we are making and this will also allow one or two to regain full fitness without the need to rush them back too early so watch this space on that one.

The support at Atherstone was excellent on Saturday and I will apologise personally for the performance....we are much better than that...but we all move on and put it down as a bad day at the office and will look forward with renewed optimism as we seek to remain in and around the play off area.

Please get behind the boys tonight and I look forward to seeing you all here against Bedworth on Saturday.
