Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Holloways Park for todays Evostik Division One Central encounter against our opponents from Ashford Town (Middx).
We come into todays match in decent form and looking to extend our recent unbeaten league run stretching 10 games and retain our position at the top end of the table against opposition who will provide another stern test for the strength and ability of our squad. We will have a couple missing today through suspension and it will provide one or two others with the opportunity to remind me of their desire and capability to make a prolonged contribution towards our target to remain in the top five of the division as a first priority.
On the squad front we said goodbye to Charlie Mpi this week as he seeks regular 1st Team football and I wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts this season whilst at the same time welcoming Ollie Burgess to the club from Cherstey Town FC. Ollie is well known to me from our time together at Hemel Hempstead Town in the Premier and I'm pleased to have him onboard as we approach the run up to the end of the year and the usual busy christmas schedule.
Last weekend saw us disappointed to only come away with a point from Biggleswade, after having taken the lead late on we were punished for a minor mistake in midfield when we looked likely to secure all 3 points against another side up the top with us. The spirit in the club is excellent at the moment and on Tuesday after training the boys went en masse to the local curry house for an Indian and a bit more team bonding which shows again a togetherness which is working well for us at the moment on the field.
Now we are back to playing saturday to saturday again for the foreseeable future it's important we continue to pick up points and maintain our momentum although I'm pleased we have a bit of respite between games so we can get over the knocks and niggles that a run of games invariably brings.
Excellent support as always just recently and more of the same needed today please as we look to keep our run going.
