Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Holloways Park for our FA Cup 3rd Qualifying round encounter against our visitors Hanworth Villa FC, who currently ply their trade in the Combined Counties Premier Division.
Following last weekends disappointing exit from the FA Trophy what better way to exorcise the demons from that game than to get a positive result against our opponents today and take our place in the next round, just one step away from the 1st round proper.
Having watched Hanworth a couple of times since the draw was made, I know we are in for a tough game against a side who will believe they can win and have demonstrated that with an excellent win against opposition placed higher than ourselves in the pyramid in the previous round.
That said, we have risen to the occasion previously in our last two FA Cup games and if players cannot motivate themselves for games like this then they shouldn’t be playing. We are desperate to keep our own run going and chase the headlines and the financial rewards that come as the FA Cup progresses. We have worked hard this week and will have almost a full squad to choose from and I’m sure the players will once again rise to the occasion against opponents we will in no way be underestimating.
Our support continues to be a major positive factor for us and I urge you all to get fully behind the boys and encourage us all the way as we look to keep the dream alive of making that 1st Round. I was part of the Slough team in the mid nineties that ran out at St.Andrews against Birmingham City and its true that the magic of the FA Cup does lift a club when you go over and above expectations and it is an occasion that generates great excitement and optimism for Players and Supporters alike.
