Some will say that leading brings it's own unwanted pressure but our players have to deal with the legacy of our past every time they take the field so this is nothing new.

Good evening everyone and welcome to Holloways Park for this evenings Red Insure League Cup Match against Chesham United. A warm welcome to Andy, John and their team and a gentle reminder that it's about time we beat them as it's something we haven't yet managed to achieve since I've been in charge at Slough.

Chesham have done extremely well since beating us in the Play Off final 2 years ago and indeed are a well fancied team in the Premier, looking to build upon a great first season and challenge for promotion again this time around. Andy has done a fantastic job and shown that you can build upon the disappointment of a couple of play off defeats and claim the ultimate prize.

Last weekend saw us reach the dizzy heights of top spot following a hard fought 1v0 win at Leighton Town with a fantastic Paul Coyne goal doing the trick for us. This season we have ground out some important results and kept clean sheets to add to the attacking instinct we possess and whilst it's very early days it's encouraging for the future.

Tonight will see us freshen things up again as we need certain players to get valuable minutes under their belts as we return to league action at the weekend and a run of fixtures that gives us an opportunity to consolidate our early lead. Some will say that leading brings it's own unwanted pressure but our players have to deal with the legacy of our past every time they take the field so this is nothing new.

Once again, thanks for your excellent support and lets hope we continue to enjoy more special moments like last weekend and continue to chase our dream of joining the likes of Chesham next season.
