Slough Town duly progressed into the third round with a low-key performance against a lively Division Two Dorking outfit who had previously taken the scalps of Wolverton and Bromley.

Graham Cox missed his first match this season as he had 'flu and ex-Burnham 'keeper Joe Silva took the green jersey and proved an able deputy. Slough stamped their superiority on the match, dominated play and almost took the lead in the first minute but Jimmy Brown missed a simple chance.

Then Devon Petty crossed from the left but Rowan Dodds powerful header skimmed the bar with Stewart well-beaten. Woodcraft's shot also skimmed the woodwork but after Dodds seemed certain to score until a brave save 15 minutes from Stewart foiled him before he could shoot.

After 17 minutes Slough made the breakthrough when an in-swinging corner from Wilson deceived the Dorking 'keeper, Dodds-almost apologetically swept the ball into the net.

At the other end Dorking were awarded a free-kick after Silva handled outside the area and Slough struggled to clear the danger.

After 32 minutes a quality goal from Paul Waites who volleyed home from 20 yards - he chested the ball down and in one swift movement extended Slough's lead.

After this the Rebels began to relax too much, going through the motions of protecting their lead while keeping out of harm's way. The second half was largely Slough with Dorking relying one of muddled football from on swift running at the Slough defence but floundering against Jeff Bateman and his colleagues.

Supporters began to show signs of frustration after such a sparkling start as the second half provided only two unorthodox tackles by Silva (miles from home on the left touchline) and a brilliant header from Wilson equally superbly saved by Stewart. The final whistle blew in a silent ground where most supporters were more interested in Saturday's FA Cup clash with Bognor.
