Having moved to the top of the Conference form table after the win at Northwich on Saturday, Slough slumped to this surprising defeat at Farnborough on Wednesday last week.
A defensive mix-up allowed substitute Keith Rowlands in for the decisive strike just before the hour mark. The Rebels had looked unconvincing until then, and lifted the tempo once they were down, but found Boro' goalkeeper Stuart Mackenzie in good form.
To make matters worse for the Rebels, left back Paul Hardyman picked up a fifth booking and will face a suspension.
