Two goals in two minutes brought Slough Town's unbeaten run to an end on Saturday as the Rebels slumped to their first defeat of the season. With the match only just beating the monsoon weather conditions, both sides struggled to produce any kind of football in the early stages.

Roach looked lively up front for Slough, and was unlucky not to nick an early goal in the first minute after a stunning right foot volley. Chasing a through ball by captain Graham Kemp, Roach let the ball bounce, hitting his 20-yard shot just wide of the Walton goal.

Walton striker Barry Rake also went close after just four minutes with a 25-yard effort that was tipped over by Paul Wilkerson. Minutes later Slough did get the ball in the back of the net after a neat three-man move. Michael Thorpe got his head to another Fiore cross, nudging the ball on to Kemp who coolly side-footed the ball home, only to be called back for offside.

That decision seemed to turn the game as Walton gradually began control the middle of the park, and right on half-time the home side hit Slough with the killer blow. Slough captain Kemp wasted a free-kick for Slough and the ball broke to Gary Holloway who stormed forward delivering a superb cross which raced across the Slough goal. Walton striker Nathan Ellington missed the cross, but with a distinct lack of Slough defenders in the box, the ball fell to Ross Pickett who slotted home the opening goal right on the whistle.

As the heavens opened, so too did the Slough defence as former Rebel Andy Sayer raced through on the Slough goal. Sayer pounced on another Walton through ball and calmly slotted the ball over a stranded Slough keeper for a two goal win.

Acting coach Paul Hardyman tried in vain to raise his Rebels bringing on strikers Gary McVie and Simon Bochinski in a bid to grab a goal back for Slough. But it was not to be for the Rebels as they saw their four match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end.
