The Rebels' better form away from Wexham Park continued on Saturday with a comfortable victory at Whyteleafe. Slough's first three victories have come on their travels and after going ahead early on, they found the weather assisted them in their bid for the win that helped them climb up the table.

In the second period, torrential rain made the conditions difficult as the new look Rebels saw both Veli Hakki and Michael Bartley notch their first goals for the club. Hakki's goal came after just six minutes when another newcomer, Simon Ullathorne broke down the right, crossed low and a neat turn from Hakki saw him fire home.

The goal lifted Rebels spirits and Ullathorne then tried his luck with a long range effort that sailed past the upright. Before the weather worsened, both Mackay and Bowyer tested Steve Mautone but found the Rebels shot-stopper in fine form.

Ullathorne then had a chance to open his account as Hakki almost repaid the compliment of his first goal. The midfielder played the striker through only for Ullathorne's effort to be blocked by the keeper's legs.

A mistake from the returning Steve Stott almost gifted Whyteleafe an equaliser early in the second half but once again, Mautone averted the danger and they were made to pay for the miss soon after.

The heavens had opened to leave puddles of water on the pitch but Ullathorne got down the drier left flank, and crossed to the far post. It looked like it was evading everyone but Clement James' acrobatic overhead kick fell perfectly to Bartley who prodded the ball home from close range.

McSherry was unfortunate to see the pitch deny him a a goal for the hosts while at the other end, Dominic Gentle had an effort cleared off the line as Rebels eased to victory.
