Slough made the long journey to Margate in the hope of continuing their recent good form and earned themselves a good point having fought back from two goals down.

It was not a good start for the Rebels though as they found themselves behind as early as the second minute. Some good footwork from Ian Hilaire gave him space to pick out Ellis Remy at the back post who headed home.

Mark Avery went close for Slough as he attacked the back post from a corner, but his headed effort went narrowly over. Jamie Brooks also went close as he struck the base of the post as he worked his way through the middle of the park.

Margate extended their lead with twenty three minutes gone. Ian Lovegrove, making just his second appearance for Slough having stepped up from the Capital League side towards the end of last season, was deemed to be tussling with Remy too strongly as the pair competed for a ball inside the area and a penalty was awarded. Hilaire stepped up and sent Parkin the wrong way as he rolled the ball low to Parkin's right hand corner.

Slough responded well to having gone two down and pulled one back inside three minutes. Glen Harris found space in the area to receive a throw from Leon Woodruffe. His back post cross was headed back across and despite being just behind the run of Josias Carbon, the wing back adapted to bicycle kick the ball home from inside the six yard box.

Margate pressed forward and were unlucky not to restore their two goal lead. A bit of pinball in the area saw some brave Slough defending, and the luck of the crossbar, keeping the ball out of Parkin's goal as a series of shots would just not go in for the home side.

Slough started the second half well and Hodges setup a chance for Carbon but he could not keep his header down under pressure. The roles were reversed shortly after as a Carbon cross from the right was headed just wide by Hodges.

Slough's play got their reward with twenty one minutes of the second half gone. Leon Woodruffe's low inswinging free kick found it's way to Steve Daly. The Rebels captain showed some great footwork to control the ball, turn his man and fire low into the net from ten yards out.

The home side came back into the game and nearly got back in front with the final chance of the game. Remy's run was found by Dean Standen and as the striker broke through, his attempted lob over Parkin went narrowly wide of the post.
