With eight games left and Slough twenty one points from safety, relegation is now all but confirmed as they lost to Ramsgate this afternoon.

As Slough have seen many times this season, they need to convert their chances when they have spells on top and again today, could not convert their chances with just six home league goals scored this season. Whilst a poor Stag Meadow surface sometimes doesn't help, Slough's finishing has often been wasteful on the few chances they have been able to create and today was no different.

Slough had opportunities through George Moleski and Matt Miller, but both could not get their efforts on target when well placed and it was almost inevitable the visitors would score.

Unfortunately for Slough, the opening two goals were far too easy for Ramsgate. Their opening goal came through Akwasi Edusei after Carl Dennison had botched his attempted clearance, leaving the striker an empty net to finish into.

The second, equally as easy for Ramsgate to finish, saw Steve Daly attempt to head the ball back to his keeper, but Dennison had already advanced to collect the ball and left Ramsgate with their second easy finish into an open goal and put the Kent side two goals up.

The scoreline certainly didn't reflect the balance of play as Slough were having the better of the game, the better of the chances, yet found themselves two behind.

Ramsgate finally produced a chance of their own making with about twenty minutes to go with Dennison saving a low drive from outside the area whilst at the other end Slough saw an effort from a corner cleared off the line and Miller again shooting just wide.

Mark Munday got the visitors first "proper" goal of the afternoon when he lobbed the ball over Dennison as the keeper came out to close the striker down.

Despite the scoreline, the supporters acknowledged the effort from the players and a performance that deserved more than the scoreline suggested.
