Goals in either half from Chris Seeby and Garry Sippetts took Slough through to the next round of the Red Insure Cup at the expense of Oxford City.
In a first half low on goalmouth action, Slough took a deserved lead against their Zamaretto Premier Division opponents in the 26th minute. A quickly-taken free kick from Swift was played to Herron on the left, whose first-time pinpoint cross was met by the head of Chris Seeby, who powered the ball back into the far corner of the goal.
Oxford’s Michael Lyon hit the bar with a header but threatened only sporadically, and the second half was a tighter affair with City’s long ball game being cancelled out by experienced defender Yiadom Yeboah.
Slough doubled their lead on the hour mark to secure passage to the next round. Garry Sippetts sprinted onto a through ball and exquisitely lobbed the advancing keeper Jesionkowski from the edge of the box, the ball dropping into the empty goal.
Slough were later denied a third as Sippetts was played in by a square ball from Swift, but this time Jesionkowski saved well with his feet.
Oxford City: Jesionkowski, McIlwain, Blossom, Lyon, Malone, Pritchard, Kington, Morris, Fuller, Janes, Davis.
