Two goals from former Slough player Mark Janes helped Abingdon to a third straight league win.

After a fine win at Bishops Cleeve on Saturday, this was a game in which the Rebels never really got going, despite starting with the same eleven players.

Both sides fired warning shots in the opening exchanges, with Platt blasting an effort wide and another former Rebel, Anaclet Odhiambo, failing to beat Jackson with an attempted lob.

The opening goal for Abingdon was worked through the midfield, and with Romeo left covering at right-back, the ball was played through to Janes who slotted past Jackson.

Slough were unable to get a foothold in the game with Abingdon working hard to deny the Rebels time on the ball, and Mark Janes was on the score sheet again ten minutes later. Slough’s defensive frailties again came to the fore as Janes shot low across Jackson to double his tally.

The half time substitution of Chris Fermie for Scott Webb saw Slough change to a 3-5-2 formation, but Slough failed to match the determination and work rate of their visitors in a poor second half.

The only effort Slough could muster was a 25 yard effort from Platt, which was straight at Sam Warrell.

Another defensive error led to the third goal, this time Kean gave the ball away by taking a free kick too quickly, giving Fermie little time to react. Odhiambo nipped in and played the ball to the far post for the waiting Luke Holden, who had time to control and tuck the ball past Jackson to seal the three points.

Abingdon had the chance to add gloss to the score line after they were awarded a penalty, with the referee changing his mind having originally given a free kick. But Mark Janes, on a hat trick, stepped up and blazed his effort high and wide of the angle.
