Slough Town 3-1 AFC Bournemouth U23

Slough scorers: Dobson (12), B Harris (71), Wells (78)

Date: 11-09-2018 | Competition: Friendly

James Dobson, Ben Harris and George Wells were on target as Slough Town defeated a young AFC Bournemouth side in a friendly at Arbour Park on Tuesday evening.

Joint manager Neil Baker described the evening as ‘really positive’, adding “you can’t replicate a lot of what we have had to do tonight in training – our fitness levels were very good against a full time team”.

The visitors struck first, with Frank Vincent scoring after just two minutes.

Slough were quickly level when Dobson followed up to score after Louie Soares’ shot had been parried by Mark Tavers.

Bournemouth had a goal chalked off for offside before forcing Jack Turner into a good save to keep the scores level at the break.

Soares twice had efforts saved by Tavers and the keeper also did well to deny Ben Harris, who tried to catch him off his line.

But Slough capped a strong second half performance by scoring twice to win the game. On 71 minutes, Dobson put in an inch-perfect cross which Ben Harris ran on to and finished.

Then, seven minutes later Wells smashed home after Manny Williams had struck a post.

Slough created further chances with Warren Harris having a shot saved and Dobson firing wide of the post, but overall this was a very satisfactory evening for the Rebels.

Attendance: 229

Team: Jack Turner, Josh Jackman, George Wells, Guy Hollis, Mark Nisbet (c), Lee Togwell (Sam Togwell 46), James Dobson, Scott Davies, Ben Harris (Warren Harris 81), Manny Williams, Louie Soares.
