Slough Town 3-0 Chinnor Reserves
Slough scorers: Booth, Watson, Brennan
Date: 01-09-2012 | Competition: League
After a good pre-season Mark Betts' Slough welcomed Chinnor for their first league game of the season.
Slough started well with some good early chances, Lawrie Toombs and Jerome Booth both testing the Chinnor keeper.
Slough's good movement and passing saw them break the deadlock in the 23rd minute. Some excellent play by Lawrie Toombs saw him beat the Chinnor full back and pull the ball back into the path of the onrushing Booth to slot home.
Toombs then had a goal disallowed in the 26th minute as Slough looked to go further ahead.
Slough's defence soaked up Chinnor's attacks and the Rebels continued to press and play some good entertaining football. Betts' side were unlucky not to go in 2-0 up at half time.
After the break Slough came out with a good tempo, coming close on several occasions but somehow not finding the all-important second goal.
Due to an injury to Booth, he was replaced by Darren Watson. Watson was only on the pitch for eight minutes when a good move from Abdul Ally found Alfie Clark, whose inch perfect cross was met by the head of Watson to put Slough two up.
Slough continued to attack down both flanks, Alfie Clark and 16-year-old Luke White delivering some great balls into Chinnor's danger zones.
In the 89th minute a corner was meet by the head of John Brennan to seal a 3-0 victory for the Rebels.
Manager Mark Betts was delighted with his side's performance and said it was encouraging to see the young side start their campaign with a well deserved victory.
