Farnborough 4-0 Slough Town

Date: 12-09-2011 | Competition: League

Slough U18s, champions of the Allied Counties Youth Premier Division last season, travelled to Farnborough for a tricky opening fixture.

However, four first half goals without reply ended the game as a contest for Slough's new-look side.

Farnborough's U18s had beaten AFC Wallingford 15-0 in their opening match of the season – an F.A. Youth Cup qualifier – but were given a much stiffer test by Mark Betts' side. The goals came from James Ashton, Jordan Merriman and a brace from the impressive Jamie Newby.

The young Rebels did improve in the second half, arguably shading it, and were unfortunate to leave without a goal to their name after managing to test the Farnborough goalkeeper on a number of occasions.

Betts' side will now be looking for improvement ahead of their next fixture at home to Aylesbury.
