Slough Town's FA Cup dream is over for another year, but not before they had given Blue Square Premier side Mansfield Town an almighty scare in the FA Cup First Round replay at Holloways Park.
As with the first game, the higher placed side were clearly the stronger of the two and took a deserved lead on the stroke of half time as David Woozley was unfortunate to put into his own net.
However, in the second half, the Rebels came out strongly and restored parity to the scoreline through Nathan Bowden-Haase following a Stuart Swift free kicki which cannoned back off the underside of the bar.
This gave the Rebels, and the home support, renewed vigour and Mansfield looked a panicked side as the home side upped the tempo. However, they could not find a way through to Redmond and test the visiting keeper.
Speight had a good chance to win it in normal time, and again in extra time, as did Burgess for the Rebels, but neither side could find the breakthrough, even following the dismissal of Dempster for the Stags, as the game went to penalites.
As the game went to penalties, the higher ranked side better held their nerve as penalties from Burgess and Sonner did not find the target and the Rebels bowed out of the competition.
